Here’s How to Utilize Web Video to Spread The Word out About Your Business
Let it be known that if you run a small business, and are not using web video as a means to promote it, you are missing out on a large chunk of potential traffic. Here’s the thing. Let me tell you a few reasons why today…
First things first… if you are even considering creating video’s for the web, remember that this is not just about promoting your products or brand. Video as medium is means to be not just engaging, but entertaining. People don’t watch video to be bored to death. They watch video to be entertained, and feel like they are really getting something. Make sure that you storyboard a script, and focus on keeping your viewer engaged from start to finish.
Remember, video is a good way to spread awareness of your brand, so you are going to want to make sure that you use your logo throughout any videos that you create. Consider using video at the start of your videos, at the end, and throughout if possible. I personally like to use my business name, logo and URL at the lower thirds for all of my videos. This works great helping people understand who I am, who I represent, and how I can help.
Another point to remember here is that video is a rank-able medium! Many people still just don’t seem to get this either, so there are just so many opportunities here at this point to get your video found! It is still considered extremely easy to rank your video content at the top of Google search results by simply sending some links to the video, and embedding it a few times. A big key element here however is to make sure that your main keyword is present in the title for the video, and within the description as well. This will help it appear as being more relevant.
Now, all you need to do is find a way to publish video. YouTube is always going to be one of the easiest ways to publish video content on the web, however, if you run a small business and want to use the more professional looking unbranded players, you will find many pieces of software such as EZS3, VideoJS, and Easy Video Player 2.0 (just as a few examples) that can do the job for you quite well. It would also be worth looking into some CDN providers such as Rackspace or Amazon S3 for video hosting as well. They key however is to just get your video live. Many people are scared to take this step, but once you have done it, and once you have seen the rewards first hand, I promise that it will get easier.
