Packing Tips For Hassle-Free, Economical International Removals
Every year, thousands of people leave their original countries of residence to live in another land. If you are planning a permanent move to another country, then you might need to hire a moving company that specializes in international removals to have your items properly and safely transported to your new home.
To save yourself from financial and logistical headaches, it is important that you do the first step of shipping properly, and that is, packing your items efficiently. Here are a few guidelines on how to pack your things smartly for hassle-free international removals to Australia, USA, or any country.
1. Delicate items such as vases, china, glasses, and porcelain must be individually wrapped in paper, bubble wrap, or foam. The wrapping materialacts as a shell to protect the item from shock, damage, and breakage. For added security, put tape all around the wrapping material. Do the same with paintings, clocks, and photo frames.
2. Similarly, electronic appliances and gear such as stereos, televisions, microwave ovens, computers, and the like should be wrapped in paper, bubble wrap, or foam to protect their delicate components. A better idea is to have them placed inside boxes to protect their knobs from getting damaged.
3. Disassemble lamp shades, chandeliers, and wall lights; and wrap each component in protective wrapper. Put the wrapped components for each appliance in one box and label appropriately.
4. Put heavy items in smaller boxes while placing a number of lighter items in larger boxes. In addition, make sure each box can be carried by a single person.
5. For smooth international removals to Canada, or any country, wrap the top and bottom of the boxes with at least three layers of duct tape or packaging tape to make sure that the lids don’t open as the boxes are lifted and carried. Packaging or duct tape is strong and can easily be cut when unpacking. In addition, label the top of the boxes their contents and where they belong (e.g., bedroom, basement, living room, etc.). Doing this helps you easily identify where your things are and what items belong in which area.
6. Get rid of staples from the boxes to avoid having sharp wires scratch the surface of the items inside.
7. Start packing your items a few days before moving out. Always remember that packing is very exhausting, and you will wear yourself out if you pack at the last minute.
Lastly, after packing everything, place all boxes against a wall, and make sure that you create an unobstructed path for the movers to go around. This will enable the moving company to carry out the items quickly. Remember that for international removals to Canada, UK, or any country in the world, if movers can do their job in a short amount of time, you also save lots of money.
