Just One Day as a Workman in a Machine Shop
I have been an Ohio citizen for my whole life. A number of people do not view Ohio as a highly sought out location to reside, but my family resides in the area, so that made it difficult to move. Overall, dwelling here is not too bad. I can afford a bigger home than I could if I relocated to California and I have a wonderful family life here. Additionally, Cleveland, which is a fun, eventful big city to escape to, is not very far away. As far as work, many of the men in my family work in machine shops. I too followed that route and am working for a Toledo machine shop.
Every day I go into work around 7 Along with assembly, engineering and inspection, the shop I work for is an expert in products for polyethylene teraphthalate (PET) storage containers. These storage containers are commonly utilized for food, refreshments and various other liquids. One of the devices my shop supplies is a section cutter. This product provides the most cost-effective way to consistently and accurately cut PET storage containers into segments. After the cutting has happened, the section is weighed by the piece of equipment to confirm correct thickness and even distribution of material. Following this step of the manufacturing process, the storage containers are tested in a hot fill machine, another piece of equipment my shop offers. This piece of equipment fills the container with hot water which ranges from 185-195 degrees Fahrenheit. The second step of this phase is to put the container filled with hot water into a cooling sink. The cooling sink, yet another piece of equipment my employer supplies, mists the hot water filled container with cold water. When the container has cooled off, it is ready to be inspected for flaws or failure caused by the hot water. This is what I devote my time on the job executing.
Rather than spending my day on an assembly line repeating the same task for eight hours like many individuals imagine machine shop employees do, I work with the PET container equipment. The work is intriguing and as technology changes, so does my work. That by itself keeps one on their toes.Being employed by a machine shop might not appeal to all, but for me it keeps me happy, close to my family and pays the bills. That covers the necessities in my opinion.
