Blue-Grey notebook: Eveld ends prep career on a high note (St. Petersburg Times)
TAMPA — If any of the 300 or so frigid souls who turned out for Saturday
night’s Blue-Grey National All-Star Classic were college scouts, they either
were in the hot chocolate line or incognito.
No matter to Tommy Eveld. On this night at Raymond James Stadium, Jesuit’s
6-foot-5 senior quarterback was more interested in enjoyment than attention.
In his final high school-level game, Eveld went 6-for-9 for 112 yards and two
touchdowns in the Grey’s 31-7 romp. His last pass: a 26-yard scoring strike to
Joey Herrick from Texas on an apparent blown coverage.
“My last game was against Pasco (a 31-7 playoff loss) and I thought that was
it,” said Eveld, who has a grayshirt offer from Western Kentucky and has been
invited to join older brother Bobby at USF as a walk-on.
